Pain Science Education Resources

Why: Pain Science Education and other active management strategies are recommended as first line care for chronic pain conditions. Yet, in private physiotherapy practice, providing education and educational materials to patients can be difficult, particularly where patients are seeking passive treatments.

What: This project has co-designed a series of novel pain science education resources, targeting patients in private physiotherapy practices. We worked with a group of people with lived experience of knee osteoarthritis, and a national group of clinicians who see patients with chronic pain to develop a suite of resources that can be applied in private practice. The prototype resource has been adopted in more than 50 clinics nationally, and is now being further developed as a digital tool.
